ABOUT LOCAL VISION: a program of the Greater Susquehanna Valley United Way in Sunbury, PA that works to alleviate poverty among those citizens classified as “ALICE”.  ALICE, a United Way acronym which stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, represents the growing number of individuals and families who are working, but are unable to afford the basic necessities of housing, food, child care, health care, and transportation (United Way).  People in this category typically make too much money to qualify for many benefits but too little money to make ends meet.

Support the General Fund

Karra Frea works in New Colombia, was only working part-time because of her lack of adequate transportation. Through the help of the United Way and Local Vision's Workforce Development Initiative, Karra is now able to work full-time with her new car. Karra was able to close the deal on her car loan at Mifflinburg Bank & Trust in Lewisburg.  Support Local Vision’s General Fund to help people like Karra with workforce development, furniture, and other basic needs.
