The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
The program offers free tax preparation to low to moderate income individuals who may need help in preparing their taxes. The program is limited to those filing non-itemized returns and Snyder and Union County residents only. A qualified volunteer will assist in filing your taxes and asses if you qualify for tax credits.
Senior citizens (age 65 or older, widows and widowers age 50 and older or permanently disabled) or permanently disabled (age 18 and older) may qualify for the PA property tax/rent rebate program. Eligible persons may receive up to $650,000. Volunteers can help determine if you qualify and assist in completing the form.
The free tax preparation program is available due to collaboration with the IRA, Union-Snyder Community Action Agency and the CORE Susquehanna AmeriCorps program. For additional information and scheduling appointments in Snyder or Union County, contact Laura La Grave/AmeriCorps member at the Community Action Agency at (570) 374-0181, ext. 147
